INTRODUCTION There are other types of open type ballast (Chock) with fix air gap where calibration is not possible like some ATCO ballast where double - C & I Lamination is used for the magnetic core. Our SPM is specially designed with latest technology to improve the power consumption/reducing calibrating the ballast with hydro pneumatic pressure before crimping the base plate. We have supplied to most & major manufacturers and are used for CFL, PL & FTL, ballast 5 to 58 w. & 70w to 400w. HID. OPERATION This is pneumatically (compressed air) operated electrically controlled automatic SPM with manual mode as well.Once tooled up for any one type of ballast, on clamping the relative position of base plate and core assembly is ensured and terminals connected to the running voltage source. On pressing the start button a Hydro-Pneumatic press compresses the air gap material thus calibrating the current drawn to the desired value. On sensing the correct calibration current top press is arrested in position and base is crimped on to the anchoring recess on the lamination stack. A set of digital meters indicates frequency, voltage current and watt loss of the ballast being crimped. A variac is used for setting voltage of the testing power source. This machine could be used for testing any other type of ballast of the same range as well.
